Back when I made wines at David Bruce we supplied thousands of cuttings for a contract planting effort by Scheid Family Vineyards in the Hames Valley of California. Located just north of Paso, this warm valley was the perfect location for a large Petite Sirah venture. Years after the planting I found myself making wines in Arizona and as luck would have it, David Bruce was no longer buying the grapes from that special site. Originating from Shell Creek Vineyard cuttings that David Bruce sourced, we are now making wines from three genetically related vineyards: Shell Creek (the original vineyard), Hames Valley (Shell Creek cuttings provided by David Bruce), and our Estate Vineyard (as our Petite cuttings also came from Shell Creek).
