2009 Grenache Nursery Block Arizona Stronghold Vineyard

The Nursery Block is a small group of vines located on the western side of our Stronghold Vineyard. Strangely, this was the only block that hadn’t been named prior to us purchasing the vineyard. Our first vineyard manager, Fabian Grandoli, established a small grape nursery alongside this block so that he would have replacements for dying vines. Without any conscious choice, he and I started referring to grapes growing alongside his small “starts” as the Nursery Block. We still don’t know what clone of Grenache this is, but the wines we make from it are always distinct and delicious. But alas…you must be the judge!
