2009 El Serrano
Now in its seventh year, El Serrano is still our classic expression of these southern French varietals. The name “El Serrano” came from a Spanish speaking friend living in Prescott, Arizona. Over supper one night, I mentioned that I was putting together the first wines for my new winery in Page Springs, Arizona. After tasting this new blend and hearing me wax poetic about the winery she exclaimed that it’s warm, spicy characters reminded her of the Mountains. I quickly let her know that our winery was in the foothills, not the Mountains. To this she laughed “Oh! El Serrano” – or the foothills.
