08 Arizona Stronghold Vineyards Syrah Norte
There is something special about the Syrah from Arizona Stronghold Vineyards and especially the Norte Block. Planted in 2001, the vines in this block may not be the prettiest, but they share a distinct site character of spice, red clay and a unique texture. While 2008 was a cool vintage and not a great one for Arizona Syrah in general, this wine is an exception. Under a beautiful core of dark fruit and earthy spice lies a firm structure of acid and tannin. This wine could reward up to 5 years of proper cellaring.
