Rio San Lucas Vineyard sits along the banks of the Salinas River in the Central coast of California. Fogs finger up into the vineyard from nearby Monterey Bay, cooling the site both in the morning and in the evening. These conditions are also ideal for Pinot Noir, which thrives in such places, but also lends to the cultivation of spicy, Rhone varietals such as this Syrah. RSL Syrah has always spoken more of the old world and the appellation of Hermitage in France. Spice-driven with dried blue and purple fruits accented by herbs such as basil and anise, this wine is complex and serious. Those who enjoy cooler climate wines or French Syrah will love this one.
