05 Ranchita Canyon Vineyard Grenache

If you’ve never had the pleasure of drinking quality, 100-percent Grenache, you are in for a treat here. (I have and this wine still blows me away). This marks the first harvest off young Grenache vines at the Ranchita Canyon Vineyard outside of San Miguel in the northern climes of the Paso Robles AVA. Grenache clones 362 and Noir find an almost historic home here in the steep, stark, limestone slopes of Ranchita. This amazingly complex wine is like no other and is tough to nail down. We have found dark cherries, purple plums, boysenberry, wet leafy tobacco, leather and much more. I don’t know what food this wine would pair with because it never makes it do meal time…
