04 Enz Vineyard Mourvedre

Tucked away in the Hollister Hills of central California lies the smallest appellation in the United States – Lime Kiln Valley. With only one winery, the Lime Kiln Valley AVA was granted its status in 1982, on petition from Enz Vineyards. A sub-region of Cienega Valley, this small appellation covers only 2,300 acres of land with about 100 acres devoted to vineyards. Although this wine is uncharacteristically (for PSC wines) hammered with Oak, the fruit also demands center stage – and luckily the oak is quality. Swirls of ripe, dark fruits interlace smoke and cedar with a healthy acid – tannin structure. A serious wine for serious wine lovers.
