04 American Syrah Rio San Lucas Vineyard

Rio San Lucas has come though again! Like the other wines we’ve made from this vineyard, there is definite site character here. RSL sits on the eastern edge of the Salinas River. Because of its low position in the valley and its proximity to the river (which flows into Monterey Bay), the vineyard benefits from the cooling fogs that finger up from the ocean. The climate here and the deep, alluvial soils lead to a pervasive RSL spice that runs through the wines it creates. This is classic Syrah: spicy, dark, well balanced, and multi-layered. This wine is bound to be a PSC classic.
