Lakeview Vineyards is located in warm Lockwood Valley on pure white, chalk “soils.” While farming grapes here may be the fare of brave souls and heroes, the vineyard owner and farmer Ron Frudden grows exceptionally low vigor Syrah here. Unlike much of the dense, high alcohol Syrah of California, the fruit for this wine was picked at moderate ripeness lending to modest alcohol levels in the thirteen’s. This wine speaks more directly of the Northern Rhone with dried blue and black fruits, hints of tobacco and inescapable dark chocolate.
