03 Cabernet Pfeffer
Sgt. Pepper’s lonely grape? The few of those who are familiar with this seldom planted, and even more rarely expounded grape, may have assumed its name originated from the profuse white pepper character it exhibits. Local lore at the Wirz vineyard claims this was a grape selection from the late and locally infamous Mr. Pfeffer. Other loosely scattered information asserts that this is simply the red Alsation grape Trousseau. Only time and DNA will tell. What we do know is that this wine is extraordinary! These hundred-year old vines have created a wine graced with balance and outstanding fruit and spice character. This rare wine will intrigue even the seasoned enthusiast.
